Our glass is manufactured at LightTech’s glass factory in Hungary to provide glass for our own production needs as well as for other specific customers. With an in-house glass manufacturing plant, we control the entire process allowing for short runs, quick turnaround, and quality control.
Opened in 2001, our glass factory is one of the most advanced glassworks in Europe and the only one in the region that produces and sells open, closed, FS and germicidal – as well as our proprietary SolGlass®. With internal chemistry and phosphor capabilities, we can engineer custom lighting and proprietary lighting solutions.
Continuous improvement is our guiding management philosophy. It is the way we do business and satisfy our clients. To date, we have added a second furnace to accommodate the production of specialty lamps and an additional manufacturing line to meet increased global demand.
Our extensive production capacity offers clients the possibility to adapt to new trends quickly.
The four major glass types are used to create almost every lamp type, from general lighting lamps to specialty tanning, dermatological, or ultraviolet germicidal lamps.
|collared glass vs. cut glass|
Closed Glass – the least amount of UVB energy while emiting more UVA. Often used in the tanning industry, especially in Europe.
Open Glass – At 297nm, it has approximately a 35% transmission; allows for a more balanced ratio of UV-A and B light to pass through the glass. Often used in tanning applications in North America.
FS Glass – This glass is “in between” open and closed glass and uses a very narrow band phosphor for pure UV-B lamps; used for dermatological purposes to treat specific skin conditions.
Germicidal Soft Glass – The most open glass and has the highest UV transmission at 91%; also has the highest transmission of UV-C light to treat and sterilize air, water, and surfaces from bacteria, viruses and pathogens.
