MultiTone™

It’s a fact, not all body parts tan at the same rate. MultiToneTM Technology creates lamps that are essentially two or three lamps in one. Lamps with MultiToneTM Technology give your customers a natural, even tan from head to toe – without the harshness or heat that can be emitted from high-pressure facial units.

  • Patented lamp coating process creates two tanning zones in a single lamp.
  • A registered equivalent for many popular tanning lamps.

Dual-Phosphor Lamp: Dual Sun Logo

Innovation
For years, salon operators have recognized that the face may tan differently than the rest of the body. How to overcome this difference? Two tanning strengths is one lamp would be the best way but such a process had never been attempted.

Exclusive Product
For our DualSunTM lamps our European and North American engineering team developed and patented a method of coating the lamp with one tanning strength for the body and a slightly higher strength for the facial area. By this means, the DualSunTM lamp series was born. Successful from the start, it is still one of the most popular products in our tanning lineup.

Light Sources’ Dual SunTM is a registered equivalent for many popular tanning lamp types. Its enhanced facial phosphor coating extends throughout the facial area of the lamp’s surface. Similarly, the lamp has an extended “stronger” region, covering half of the lamp’s length. DualSunTM is intended for faster response when tanning your client’s arms.

SmartLamp = An even tan for face, body and legs
An Even Tan for Face, Body and Legs

The only way a tanning lamp can truly tan a person evenly is by giving each section of the body exactly the amount of tanning energy it needs – no more, and no less. And the only lamp to do that is the Light Sources SmartLamp.

It’s a simple fact that the face, body and legs tan at different rates and to different degrees. So a tanning lamp that gives them the same amount of UVA and UVB energy for the same amount of time is simply not going to tan a person evenly. And that is frustrating for tanners who are not tanning with SmartLamps. The SmartLamp has three proprietary LSI tanning phosphors, so the face, body and legs each receive their optimal amount of UV tanning energy.

Lamps available in 100W, 160W, 200W, non-reflector and reflector, BI-PIN or RDC

Face Facts

  • The SmartLamp bathes the face in UVA energy that is high in light waves from 340nm to 390nm (like an HPF lamp). It effectively oxidizes melanin (turning it brown) at the skin’s surface and deep below.
  • Unlike HPF lamps or traditional low pressure tanning lamps, the SmartLamp delivers low levels of UVB energy in the photoaging wavelengths of 320nm to 340nm (see the first graph). This reduces the risk of premature facial wrinkling. The melanin-producing concentration also results in the most effective Vitamin D production.

Body Work

  • The body, or torso area, usually gets less exposure to sunlight. So the SmartLamp delivers a carefully measured amount of UVB and an ample amount of UVA (to oxidize the melanin produced by the UVB). In addition, Light Sources’ proprietary LSI phosphors produce a tanning experience that is gentle and effective.

Great Legs

  • The legs are notoriously difficult to tan. The SmartLamp uses another proprietary LSI phosphor that is abundant in both UVB and UVA energy. This leads to copious amounts of melanin production that the UVA can oxidize and tan. The phosphor used in the leg section produces, again, a gentle and effective tanning experience.

At the end of the day, your customers will love having the ultimate even tan!

What Does This Graph Have To Do With Your Face?
It illustrates one of the key differences between SmartLamps and other tanning lamps. SmartLamps have a different energy distribution, to help tanners avoid photoaging.  Photoaging is premature aging of the skin from prolonged, intense overexposure to sunlight. The light waves between 310nm and 350nm are most responsible for photoaging.

And Where’s The Vitamin D?
Our bodies produce Vitamin D in response to sunlight – specifically, in response to sunlight between 280nm and 300nm.

Lamps manufactured from general lighting glass filter out most of the energy in this vitamin D zone. We use our own phosphor technology and we manufacture our own glass, called SolGlass™, to keep the energy between 280nm and 300nm – and to stimulate the body’s vitamin D production.

This graph shows the primary vitamin D zone – the blue area to the right of the vertical dotted line. You can see how much more energy the SmartLamp’s SolGlass and phosphor technology produce (yellow area), compared to other tanning lamps (purple area).
